The Worst Blogger Ever

Unlike my sister and my brother I am officially the worst blogger ever. My updates are infrequent, indecisive and boring. However today I have a topic. The topic is writing. I heard any English teacher yesterday profess to her students that all good writing is planned. That all writing is systematically laid out and crafted for years. I do not doubt that for some this is true but my question is does it have to be. I am a visceral witter. I follow instinct. I sit down at a keyboard and write in my plays whatever comes to mind. I don't worry about spelling, grammar or even if it makes sense (but my editor probably wishes I did). I have written on everything from waiter ticket pads to cocktail napkins and I have met a good deal of success but according to this English teacher I am doing it wrong. I may not have pre-planning but I have passion and I have to ask which is more important? Do we want to be a very well made cage or a very exciting fire?
